GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS
IABR fights for your interest at the Indiana General Assembly and the Alcohol & Tobacco Commission.
Our Continued Action
Following are some of the current issues we are facing:
1. Stop the proliferation of beer & wine permits that are being sought by gas stations and convenience stores. Such sales send a mixed message about drinking and driving.
2. Expand the co-op statute to include Rule 32 requirements.
3. Prohibit stocking by wholesalers.
4. Prohibit selling below cost.
5. Require alcohol to be sold by licensed clerks in an area not accessible to minors.
6. Require appeals to be held in county of permit location.
The Grassroots Network
The Grassroots Network is a system to inform package store owners of actions in the State Legislature. We send an "Action Alert" Broadcast Fax or Email to all members of the network in the event that an important legislative or regulatory issue arises. The message gives package store owners important facts about how the legislation will affect them and includes legislator contact information.
ATC and Local Boards
IABR has been the leader in protecting the state's public policy of controlling access to beverage alcohol through the 3-tier system and a regulated market. IABR maintains a strong liason with the Alcohol & Tobacco Commission.
